Need Help with Nvidia GForce FX 5700 Xt - Leadtek A360 XT

I just got this graphic card today, what happens is when i install the driver (that comes with the card), my system tends to freeze or restart, and when i run a game it kinda does both, now yesterday i actualy had purchased the Gforce 5600 xt which was also a Leadtek A310 Xt i belive, i was having the same problem after exhanging it with the 5700 im having the same problem, ive kinda spent the past 18 hrs trying to get it to work, i really dont have much knowledge when it comes to graphic cards, though im sure the card isnt faulty, personaly i think that its the driver, has this happend to anyone else? need some help plz...

and as far as i know i meet the cards requirements.

sys spec-

P4 1.4 GHz
384 meg ram
Gforce FX 5700 Xt - Leadtek windfast A360 xt

first of all welcome to dh.

should of stuck with the 5700xt it appears to be better by any reviews i have seen.

as you state you tried the driver from the cd, which version were it. 53.03 as this one will most likely be newer.

have you tried this utility. cleaner follow the read me that is with that.

small note to help out better a few more details of your system would be better. like motherboard,os that sort of thing.

hi, heh kinda forgot to say hello was like 1 am make that 2 am now but amazing what coffee can do for ya

hmm actualy that driver that you've mentioned was the first that i used,
and yes its the 5700 xt which i've kept.

Comes with a few CDs theirs Winfox2.0 which acts as the driver, instaling that from the CD also installs the nvidia settings and toolbox. but i did use the cleaner and removed it and later tried the 53.03.

neways heres the specs on my system-

CPU - Intel P4 / Xeon
Graphic card - Nvidia Gforce FX 5700 xt, its a leadtek brand called winfast A360 xt, (has a picture of a 3d female on the box).
120 gig HD
384 meg ram
17" Flatron 795FT plus - LG

Not sure where to get the mainboard info but this is what winfox2.0 is showing me right now - > Intel(R) 82850 processor to I/O controller - 2530 -< was that what you were asking for? heh sorry harware isnt really my specialty

if theirs anything else you need to know just let me know i'll try and answer it.
- the freezes and resets usualy occur when i view an image file, and as far as i know i cant run any games, i think i know what part it is i mean been trouble shooting for a while, if i goto settings and under trouble shoot i scroll back disabling direct draw and direct 3d i wont have any probs but then again i cant run any of the games either, my last card was a gforce 2, it still works just that its kinda messed up now shows dots and the sort on the screen but besides that everything works fine as opposed to this. neways hope this all makes some sense and someone would have an answer heh.

that peice on the 5700 slight misread as you had the 5700 then exchanged it for the 5600.

asked for the os are you on xp sp1, with all update installed.

have you got dx9.0b installed.as the 5700 will require that to run properly.

also are you're chipset drivers upto date.

try aida32 this might be better way to find out your motherboard.

also give it a little time as there will be more help when there are more experienced members online.

hi again,

ya ive updated everything from XP, i have dx9.0b installed as well, i found one thing though the refresh rate on the gforce 5700 cards setting was at 100 where as my monitors was at 60 so i changed the 60 to 100 as well, its become a little more stable though still the same, instead of restarting it freezes now heh,

i'll get that file you mentioned and check,

whats a chipset driver?

ok, using the file you mentioned, i checked and found that my Mboard is a Gigabyte GA-8tx Chipset- i 850.

Could it be an AGP problem? cause im really lost right now heh ive checked evrything, reinstalled drivers (different ones) the same problem occures wih all of them. right now i have the latest that you mentioned installed i can use the system, the resolutions that ive set it to and everything works, up until i run any of the games, could it be having problem with its open gl? or ddraw?
