This may come as somewhat of a shock to many people reading this but the latest figures from nVidia are just detailing Q3 earnings in 2009. They took $903.2 million and their profits of $107.6 million where much higher than anticipated.

Comparing this to last years third quarter results show a huge growth in both revenue and profit with a 74% profit increase ($61.1 million).

This gets even more interesting when you compare the final results with estimated Street figures because analysts at Thomson Reuters reported that they had expected $865 million revenue. These incredible figures also cause their stock prices to improve with NVDA up 2.34% at $12.26 and later another climb of 3.7% to $13.00 - a 6.04% daily increase.

When you compare the Market Cap against AMD's, nVidia are significantly higher with $6.72B compared to AMD's $3.22B.

Looking at their income streams it appears that while the desktop arena hasn't been their best that they in fact made huge profits from their business based workstation Quadro range of cards. This was also enhanced by the TESLA based products which are getting well received into the target arena.

These results will certainly please fans of the company because many analysts had predicted much worse results.
