Figures from NPD show that Windows 7 is doing massively well already with sales 234% higher than Vista sales ever were.

This will be good news after the relative (and somewhat unjustified) poor sales figures of Vista with many people choosing to remain with XP.

These figures were not expected so soon and Microsoft are apparently "extremely happy the sales have been so fantastic already" - there is even a 49% surge in computer sales compared to the same point last year, which we would assume is due to uneducated people already with Vista, just selling their computer and buying another with Windows 7 installed, rather than just upgrading the OS.

Windows 7, and by 7 we mean 7 figure seller, baby.

(this is about the only Windows I have bought that I didn't recieve through hardware (like the license from laptops etc)

There is an article on FUD with figures showing Windows 7 is out selling Vista by 234% in the US.

I can't say I'm surprised since it's a newly launched product, Vista got such a bad rep because of poor driver/hardware support (the OS itself is nice now that there are some service packs out) and Microsoft's marketing department has done a much better job this time around.

Their I'm a PC and Windows 7 was my idea ads are okay, I just think they should be showing more of the OS, but then again, so should OS X

with a kitten..

am i right in thinking that underneath it all win 7 is quite closely related to vista, and its success is more to do with the fact that they got their advertising spiel right this time than any great leap forward with the actual OS....

I'm sure the higher sales figures were also partly due to the cheap pre-order promotion that Microsoft was offering.
