Sb0220 no Rear Sound

I had a SB100 soundblater live and the swap Rear & Front
option worked Perfectly and all the other funtions

Reacently i bought my own PC Pentium 4 2GHZ
80GB Seagate 7200Rpm
256 MB 333 DDR
SoundBlaster live SB0220
and now everything works fine Except
my Rear out put does not work at all (no sound)
Swap Rear and Front also does not work also

Is there a problem with Kx Driver with the SB0220 & the Rear Output
or is it me who can't set it up correctly!

(I have not tried it with the original Creative Drivers as they r useless for my use)

the sb022x cards currently do not work with the rear output (due to the 6ch ac-97 codec in use) so wait for 3538 and the swap f/r will be almost useless

thanks for the guide dj stick without them i would have had hell to setup my soundcard !

so that means the sb0220 uses only the ac97 A/D so it would be useless to swap any way

I have the exaxt same problem, but - in addition, in my speaker test window it only shows 4 speakers (rear and front), of which the rear doesn't work. Now the helpfile says that if a subwoofer and/or center speaker are present their icons show up respectively. Well, they don't for me at least.

I tried the Creative drivers before but they only stated that "Setup could not detect a Sound Blaster on your system", so I'm now using yours. Is there a way I can get all 5.1 speakers to work at the time on my Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 digital (SB0220) - with any drivers? It's kinda sad since the only reason I bought this sound card was the 5.1 sounds.

(Edited to say that the front speakers work...)

this will depend on the availability of the information
at the moment the issue needs to be investigated

can someone experienced in kX DSP & kxctrl command line utility try to find the solution?...

Maybe this helps you:

This card works now ok in linux using ALSA drivers. Thanks to James Courtier-Dutton.

From ALSA linux driver:
To enable rear channel on this card:
there is register AC97SLOT (0x5f) used to enable center/lfe on 5.1 sb live
for center/lfe it is set to 0x30. For this new sblive set it to 0x33 to enable additional rear channels.
these AC97 rear channels are connected to output 0xd,0xe of FX8010.

now connect your surrounder outputs (or anything related to your 'rear' channels) to the 'out_13,out_14' of the epiloglt_k1 via the 'x4' plugin)

you should now hear rear speakers

Sorry to barge in like this, but I've got a similar card (the latest SBLIVE 5.1) and a similar problem. The only way I can get sound to come out of all the speakers properly is if I set it to 4.1 mode and use "copy" for the surrounder. No matter what settings I use in the control panels, I cannot get the speaker test to actually play sound out of all four speakers. Here is a copy of the hardware configuration.

in the kX DSP, right-click an empty area and select "add effect/plugin" and add the "x4" from the "basic" menu and "epilog_k1" from the "default" menu.

After i enter gptr 5f 0 it says:

PTR[reg=5f; ch=0]=33

I changed the 7f's to 5f's, but it still no rear sound...

Also after i reboot the connections between the 4x and the epiloglt_k1 in the DSP are disconnected

i expect the disconnection is due to the parameter change, the epiloglt_k1 is supposed to replace the epilog completely, perhaps that is why it is not working, check every connection.
